SAMOA will celebrate it's 30th birthday on the last weekend of August in Virginia City, Nevada. Our hotel venue is the Silverland Inn & Suites, 100 North E Street, Virginia City, NV 89440.  (775) 847-4484.  To
register and pay for this event,

The club has planned a variety of events for the weekend celebration.  Arrive on Friday (hotel check-in is 3:00 PM), relax and unwind at your own pace, tour downtown, hit a few saloons, and join SAMOA for a
welcome reception at the hotel at 6:00 PM.  Snacks and soft drinks will be provided, BYO beer, wine or spirits.  Approaching sundown, for those inclined, we will have a led moonlight drive in a
26-mile loop to
include Nevada SR79 (6-mile canyon) and Nevada SR341 (site of the Spectre 341 hill climb).  If you spent too much time at the local saloons earlier, take a pass on this drive, as it will be part of our Saturday
activities as well.

Saturday is going to be full of activities, starting with a complimentary continental breakfast at the Inn.  We plan to have a
couple of drives for you, one at a touring pace and another at a more aggressive pace.
Sign up Friday night when starting times, route maps and other details will be posted.  Both drives will provide for a lunch stop, either a picnic-style box lunch or a restaurant stop.  Your return to Virginia City is
estimated to be mid-afternoon.  At that time, relax at the hotel, hit the indoor pool and jacuzzi, or take advantage of the variety of
walking tours, museums or historic cemeteries that are all within spitting distance
of our hotel.  Or stop in at one or more of the historic
saloons and casinos on Main and C Streets.  There is even a free app for your phone to guide you around town.

Saturday evening SAMOA will host a banquet at the hotel for all of our members and guests, catered by the Cider House restaurant and staff.  No-host bar will be offered, or you may bring your own wine for a small
corkage fee.  A dinner program is currently in the works, and all guests are invited to participate.

Sunday will bring a continuation of club activities, starting with continental breakfast at the hotel, or at
any local restaurant of your choosing.  And our finale before leaving (official Inn check-out is 11:00AM) will
be an all-Miata parade down Main Street.

Everyone is free to choose their own time and route back home.  Ron Petrich will be returning to Sacramento via
California SR88 through Alpine Village and Carson Pass (elevation  8,642') and all are welcome to
join him.  There may be an alternate route home to southern Sacramento or San Joaquin County via California SR4 and Ebbett's Pass (elevation 8,730').  But regardless of how you return, our hope is that you have a
wonderful and safe weekend with us this summer.

After you complete your registration you will automatically be on our mailing list to keep you informed about the event's schedule and other details.

Dear SAMOA Members,

The 49th Annual Virginia City Grand Prix off road motorcycle race has been rescheduled from April 25-26 to our August 29-30
weekend. See the attached link...

Organizers estimate there will be in excess of 1,000 people descending on Virginia City. Therefore, SAMOA is doing the following:

We are postponing our 30th Anniversary event to an open weekend next May.  For 2020, events are already booked in Virginia City
through September, and part of October, and other cancelled events may shift to other currently available weekends in 2020.

SAMOA will send a full refund by mail, for all registration fees and shirt fees, within the next several weeks.

I have cancelled all hotel reservations at the Silverland Inn for all participants who registered for the event with SAMOA.  If you
reserved a room, but did not register with SAMOA, please contact the hotel directly at to
cancel as soon as you can.

Soon after January 1, 2021, we will contact you with a new date and you can re-register at that time.  We are sorry to postpone
this event, but we felt it was best to do so, and hope you will understand.

Please send me any comments or questions at

Thank you,
Martin Boersma
SAMOA President
